According to local news sources in San Diego, a 16 year old girl was abducted and sexually assaulted today (March 2, 2009) in El Cajon, CA. Apparently, the young girl was walking to school when the perp got out of a car, approached her, talked to her, and then forced her into the car. He drove her to an isolated area where the assault occurred. I wanted to take some time and discuss some tactics for younger girls:
A. If possible, walk in groups… use the buddy system. Be on guard for your friends.
B. If a stranger approaches you and wants to talk - keep walking. If he tries to grab you, remember: closest weapon/closes target. That can be something as simple as hitting their arm away or as violent as gouging their eyes - and yell: “Help, Help” “Get away from me!” “Somebody help me!”
C. If a stranger tries to force you into a car - again, closest weapon/closest target - go for the marbles (eyes or groin) and just start scratching and kicking until they let go. You want to do everything you can to break away and start running. Under no means do you want the perpetrator to get you into the car.
These are consequences a perpetrator does not want. There was a 14 year old girl in Los Angeles who stopped an attack by kicking the perpetrator in the groin.
As a visual reference, last month, I posted a clip that Fox news ran on me a year or so ago with regards to kids and preventing abduction, etc. Under the ‘Kids’ Category: HIT Clip: Fox News/Supplement to Children Blog’. You can see some of these moves in action.
I hope this helps. No one should have to endure what this young woman went through today.
Stay safe.
