Here are a few tips (and a clip from the DVD) with regards to safety for the upcoming 4th of July holiday.
A. If you plan to go out for a night on the town and fireworks, make sure you utilize the buddy system: each of your friends should watch out for one another. Even better if have one designated sober ‘party-goer’ who can watch out for any signs of trouble (she is the one who tells you that ‘this guy’ might not be the right one - or who comes in when you give her ‘that look’ and gives you a good reason to excuse yourself from an uncomfortable situation).
B. Carry your cell phone and enough money for a cab ride home in case you get separated from your friends.
C. Be careful on alcohol consumption. Again, if you plan to go ‘all out’ - make sure you have a friend who will watch your back.
D. If you are in a large crowd of people, stay close to your friends. As with concerts, etc., things in a large group of people (mob situation) can get out of hand really quick. You need to be surrounded by friends.
Have a fun Fourth of July.
Here is a quick clip from the DVD: we show a few different ways to escape from an attempted abduction or sexual assault.
Stay safe.
